Rugby, wine and beach

Springbok Rugby museum

Today we went to the rugby museum.  It was pretty cool. They had things where you could practice your rugby skills.  It also told you about you the history of Rugby.  Rugby came to South Africa when the English started to move here.

It was a pretty cool place.

Rugby game!!!!

We went to a rugby game.  It was the Pretoria Lions against the Cape Town Stormers. Mom, Dad and Sam where cheering for the Stormers and I was cheering for the Lions. I was cheering for the Lions because I love their jersey. It has the spider man logo on it.  It was super cool.  It was a fun game.  I liked watching the game.

The game was pretty sloppy and slow until the last ten minutes of the game.  Then it got stressful for me.

The Stormers were down by 7 and they ended up getting a try. ( aka 7 points) .Then, they kicked the ball in to the post to win I was sad :( . This all happened in the last couple minutes of the game.  It was a good night out and game.  I hope we do it again.

Franschhoek

We went to Franschhoek mostly because Mom and Dad wanted to tasted wine :( . BUT they say that it is beautiful and we should learn about the old buildings and how they make wine. First, we went to Boschedal Winery.

It is the second oldest winery in South Africa.  It was nice. We didn’t get to taste juice or anything but they had a super cool park called the Tree fort.  The park was mostly up in the trees.  It was awesome. Next, we went to Leopard’s Leap to have lunch. It was also nice and lunch was awesome. Then, we went to the place we were staying. It was very nice and was an old farm. They had 5 dogs. One was a puppy. She was was so so cute. They also had horses.

Cape L’Agulhas

We went to Cape L’Agulhas.  It is where the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian ocean meet and the most southern part of Africa. I thought it was going to be two big waves crashing into each other but nope it was a divider. You could kind of see the different colours of the two oceans…but not really.  I stood on both sides.  One foot on the Indian and one foot on the Atlantic.

We didn’t do much else in Cape L’Agulhas.

Lighthouse

Hermanus

We went to Hermanus. Hermanus is a costal town that in the winter (we are in summer season here) whales come to breed they migrate to here.

There are three different types of whales that come here. The Southern Right whale, the Humpback whale, and the Bryde’s whale. Maybe next time, we can come when the whales are here.

PS. We stopped at another winery on the way home . 😑😑 Mom and Dad said this was their favourite so far.

Adventures

Just me and my Dad

just me and my Dad!

My Dad and I went on a hike up Chapmen’s Peak. It took us 45 minutes to get to the top. (So not as long as Table Mountain)  When we got to the top we stayed and rested for 15 minutes.  Then, we hiked down.
check out that view!

On our way down, we killed the kraken. The kraken is a greek mythology creature. I like to pretend to "crush" them.    It was some much fun! Mom and Sammy didn’t come on the hike because they were sick. :(. I hope that I get to go on more hikes with just me and my Dad.

Spier

We went to Spier it was fun. Spier is a winery that has a play ground, wine tasting ,grape juice tasting and bird sanctuary.

First, Sam and I tasted grape juice and did a chocolate tasting.   Mom and Dad had wine. OF COURSE!
grape juice and chocolate tasting

Next, we went to the park. (mom and dad were STILL tasting the wine) We were mostly on the swing.

bird of prey show

Then, we went to the bird sanctuary there were barn owls, spotted eagles owls, secretary birds, snakes,YIKES, vultures and foxes.  We also, went and saw a bird of prey show. It was super cool and I learned lots about birds of prey.  Sadly, the show had to end short because one of the vultures had a cut on his wing.  They needed to take him to the bird hospital to make sure he was ok.

Then, I saw the secretary bird show.  I loved this.  They showed us how they hunt and how powerful the secretary birds’ kick is.  It is like a ninja bird.

I also went in an owl cage. One owl landed on my arm.  It kind of hurt but more like a pinch.  It was a fun day.

This is what was on me.

Look they named an owl after me! HA!

Look Mom did it too!

Back to Boulders beach to swim with the penguins

We went to Boulders beach to swim with the penguins. It was cool because it was my first time that close to a penguin. I could have touched them if I had wanted to but I didn’t because that wouldn’t be nice to the penguins.   There were so many penguins. I got swim with them too!  I wore my goggles so I could see them under water but when they dove down they went so fast it was hard to see them.  The water was cold but it was fun!

SWEEEET!

See ya Nate!
