ROAD TRIP!!!!!!

Road trip!!!!!!!

We went on a Road trip.  First, we went to Delphi. On the road, we saw lots of cotton fields. Turns out that Greece produces a lot of cotton! Who knew?  We stopped and picked up some cotton. When we got to Dephi, we had a super delicious lunch and explored the town a bit.  We took a picture or two because the view was amazing.

Next, we went to Meteora, a place with so many monasteries on cliffs. There used to be 24 of them but now there are only 6.   Mom wanted to go to them all but we only went to half of them.

We saw some cool stuff the first monastery. It was cool. It had so much to look at and had a cool museum. We learned a lot about it.  They were built in the 13th century by monks to avoid being killed by people who didn't believe in what they did.  Do you know how they got up to the monasteries? They had to climb up these rope ladders or go up in a big net. Crazy! We also learned about what a typical day in the life of a monk is like.

life of a monk!

The second monastery was bigger, very fancy and another museum. The last monastery was small and the stairs were built right into the cliff.

Then, dad made an announcement that we were going to an 5 star hotel for Sammy's 12th birthday!!!!! Woo hoo!!!

We went to the 5 star hotel and it was so awesome!!! There was a ping pong table, a sports centre, 5 pools and a mini arcade and that was just to name a few! There were mini events like an white party where you wore white and danced. It was sooooooo much fun and cool! We also met two kids named, Ben and Ed. Ed was 11 years old (almost 12) and Ben was 9 years old. We had so much fun with them.

ice cream anytime we wanted it!

Finally, we drove home to Athens…

See ya later gladiator.

Lots of OLD STUFF!

Hephaestus's Temple

We went to Hephaestus’s temple. It is the only one that is still in pretty good shape.   Hephaestus is the God of volcanos, fire and metal working. His temple is in the north east of Athens.  It was on a really big property that you could explore.  There were lots of ruins and statues.  The weirdest thing we saw was the temple of Ares. (The God of war) There was hardly a trace of the temple left behind . LOL :)!  I liked it a lot and I wish I had taken a picture of it. There was a small museum that had lots of things you could look at too.

Also, we saw the Panathenaic Stadium. It is where the first modern Olympics games, in 1896 took place. The  track is  204m long and 34m wide. It is the only stadium made entirely out of marble.   It has 50,000 seats. I ran the track and stood on the podium. It was pretty cool to run on the same track as so many Olympian athletes.

We also went to the optical illusion museum. There was a vortex that spins around you and makes you feel like you are spinning but you really aren’t. I loved it. There were brain puzzles which are challenges for your brain and for fun. I saw my shadow in different colours like blue, green , red ,yellow, orange and purple. There were so many brain challenges and illusions ,it was cool.

We went to the  Acropolis museum. It had some cool stuff they found on the hill and around the Acropolis. We saw statues and carvings from the 1st century.

That's it for old stuff this time!
