Tokyo Baby!

Welcome to Tokyo

We went to Tokyo! Tokyo is Japan’s capital, the home of the emperor, Nintendo, Sega and is going to be the place of the 2020 Summer Olympics.  Tokyo became the capital in 1869. The emperor is the ruler of the Japan and they live in a palace in Tokyo.

We took the bullet train from Osaka to Tokyo.I enjoyed being on the bullet train. It went super fast, 320 km per hour to be exact. The train kind of looked like a bullet from a gun but was much bigger.  The scenery on the way to Tokyo was  beautiful.   We saw Mt. Fuji.   The top of Mount Fuji looked like it was on the clouds. Did you know that Mt.Fuji is an active volcano?

When we got to the place we were staying, I was surprised because I thought it was going to be big, but I was wrong.   It was so small. It was one room total, with a tiny bathroom.  The best thing about this place, in my opinion, is there was a button toilet. If you remember from my last blog, I thought that I wasn’t going to get to use one again. I was very happy.

On our first full day,  we tried to go to the Imperial Palace.  We didn’t have very good luck though.  We decided to go through the East garden but that was a mistake.  We walked around for an hour and a half without any luck, everywhere we tried to go was closed.  Turns out, they are doing work on the gardens and you can’t get in that way right now.   The Imperial palace is the were the emperor lives.

That night, we went to the Tokyo Metropolitan building. It is a great place to see the view of Tokyo.

We went to the 45th floor and saw our friends Paul and Beth. They are here on vacation too and then Paul will be going to the Rugby World Cup with my Dad.  We went for dinner in the Shenjuku area. In the Shenjuku area, there were lots of video games.  We got to play some. Super awesome!

The next day, we went to the Borderless Art Museum and It was fun! We saw a lot of projected digital images that flew all around us.   We saw some fun ones, like the flying nest where you lie down on a huge net  and spin but you are in the same place it’s an  optical illusion. I really liked the art museum. I didn’t think I was going to like it.

We also checked out the busiest intersection in Tokyo. It is called the Shibuya crossing.  They say it is the busiest intersection in the world.  We crossed the intersection too and went to a building where you can watch everyone crossing from up high.  Guess what we saw when we were watching? A bunch of Mario karts driving down the road too.  It was so funny.

I also got to go to the entertainment district in Tokyo.  There are arcades everywhere. I was in heaven.  We got to play a bunch of video games.

My parents also tried to surprise me and take me to the Kirby cafe. That is a restaurant with Kirby's everywhere. We got there and you needed a reservation.  You couldn't even make a reservation for a year! It was booked so far in advance. That's ok though, we went to the Kirby shop instead.  I loved seeing all the different Kirbys. Best store ever!

Here are some other cool pictures of Tokyo.

I really enjoyed Tokyo.
