In front of the Parthenon
Hello Greece
We have arrived in Greece. It is the home of the Greek Gods. I love Greek mythology, so I am excited to learn more about it.
Greece is located in Europe near the Mediterranean Sea.
It’s bordering countries are Albania, Bulgaria, Turkey and the Republic of Macedonia. It’s maritime borders are Egypt, Italy and Cyprus.
It’s capital is Athens and its population is 10.77 million. It currency is the Euro like Portugal. The Greek flag means freedom or death. It looks like a white cross with 9 blue and white lines.
Greece has 6,000 islands but only about 227 islands have people living on them.
We went to the Acropolis. It is located on the top of a hill overlooking the city of Athens. The very top is the Parthenon and other temples for the Goddess Athena, (the Goddess of warfare and wisdom)

On the way up to the top of the Acropolis you will see the theatre of Dionysus (the God of wine and parties!) We hiked up the side of the mountain to see the theatre of Dionysus. The theatre is where ancient greek people sat to watch plays about the Gods.

We hiked even higher up the mountain and we saw the temple of Athena and the Parthenon.
They were built in the 5th century, so it wasn’t in very good shape, but it was cool to look at. All around the Acropolis, there were lots of ruins,& statues. You can see all of Athens from the top.
I got my hair cut. I like it a lot. The barber was very nice and after that we went to see on tv the South Africa vs Canada rugby game. South Africa won 66 to 7. What a disappointing loss for Canada, so I had a non’ alcoholic mojito .
That night, we went to a concert. It was the Queen Symphonic at the Odeon.
The Odeon theatre is on the side of the Acropolis and was built in 161!!!! That is so long ago. It had a 60 person orchestra, a 10 person rock band all playing and singing to Queen music.
We got the best sets in the theatre, that was at the top.
It was actually cold, I was shivering but it was worth it. It was a pretty long concert but such a fun time. We got up and danced to we will rock you. I did get a little sleepy because we had only arrived to Greece a few days ago and I was still on Japan time.
Byeeeeeeee
