Morocco

We were in Morocco

Morocco is in the west coast of North Africa.  It’s bordering countries are  Algeria, Western Sahara and shares small borders with Spain. It has the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the Mediterranean Sea in the north. Its capital is Rabat

It’s population is 36.47 million.

This is what the flag looks like.It is red with a green star in the middle.  The red represents hardiness, bravery, strength and valour and the Green represents love, joy wisdom, peace and hope.

We went to Marrakech. Marrakech is fourth largest city in the country and located in near the Atlas Mountains.

We went to the Souk which is a market.  It was called Jemaa El Fan souk.

At the market we saw snake charmers, monkeys on leashes # stop animal abuse and cool things to buy.

We decided to hire a guide to help us find our way in the market and give us a tour around the Medina and square.  We saw the Medina, the old castle which is called Bahia palace. The king and his many wives and girlfriends used to live there  until they moved to the capital Rabat. The buildings  and art are beautiful. We through the souks and saw spices, clothes, food, souvenirs, argan oil, lamps, pots, blacksmiths, plates and more.

Then, we went on a full day trip to the Atlas Mountains. We headed to the desert and got to ride Dromedary or 1 hump camels. We went for a 30 minute ride. My camel’s name was Rosa.  My mom’s camel was named was Madonna.  I liked riding them.

Want to here something cool? You get on them like horses but they are lying down when you get on .   Also ,how they get up is cool.  They get up by  keeling then standing.  You fell a bump when it happens.

We went to an argan oil factory where you try stuff made from argan oil. This is one of the ways to make oils for cosmetic purposes

Step 1. They use goats that climb trees and make the fruit fall to the ground so the women can pick it up. They do that method because the trees are too sharp.

Step 2. peel off the fruit.

Step 3. Smash the seeds with a rock.

Step 4. Put smashed seeds in grinder to make cream.

And then it is all done.

We had lunch at our tour guide's house. The people who made it for us were his mom, his sister and sister in law. The food was really good and I enjoyed it.

After lunch, we walked around their town.  We also went to a Berber market when we were there.

Finally, we went to Casablanca where we saw Jim Gaffigan. Who is Jim Gaffigan you may ask. Well for the people who want to know  he’s a very famous comedian who lives in New York, USA.

Plz look up this Hot Pocket Jim Gaffigan. It is sooooo funny.

We also saw a great big mosque when we were there. It was right on the ocean.

Next time we talk, we will be in Rome. See ya later Alligator!

Nate.
