We are in France. It’s the land of the French language, pastures and the Eiffel Tower.
It located in the west of Europe. It’s bordering countries are Andorra,Belgium,Germany, Luxembourg, Monaco and Spain. It’s capital is Paris and the population is 66.99 million.
This is what the old flag looks like.
This is the new flag became official in 1794 after the French Revolution. The flag represents liberty, equality and fraternity. Blue and red are the colours of Paris and the white is for the Royal house of Bourbon.
Fun fact. Did you know that before it was called France it was called Gaul by the Romans? It changed because the Franks, a warrior tribe took over it in the 5th century.
We have been in France for 3 weeks. The first week we spent in the South of France in a town called, Antibes. It is really close to Nice.
We explored the town and saw our grandparents / my Grandma and Grandpa. They were going on a cruise around Europe.
The next week, we went on a road trip to places like, Lyon, Evian. Evian-les-Bains is a small town across from Switzerland by lake Geneva… so we went on a day trip to Switzerland.
You can see my blog about Switzerland to know more.
A cool thing that we did in Evian-les-Bains is fill up our water bottles with PURE Evian water for FREE! How cool is that?
Now, the part you have been waiting for. The city of love, the city of lights and the home of the Eiffel Tower itself, Paris.
First, We went on the hop on hop off bus around the city of Paris.
We saw the Eiffel Tower, the arc to victory, (a monument to Napoleon the 1st), the opera house, the Louvre and Obèlisque de Louxor . P.S. You’re going to learn more about Napoleon the 1st later. I love history.
Next, we went to the military museum… there was so much to learn there.
see how the trees are shapes of bullets!!!!
We learned about the wars the French fought, their military leaders, old armour for kings and for regular old people and of course, Napoleon.
Did you know Napoleon was 5 foot 7? I thought he was much shorter than that!
We also saw stuff about Napoleon the 1st or Napoleon Bonaparte. He died on May 5th, 1821, at the age of 51. He probably died of stomach cancer and was buried in a big huge tomb at the military museum. The king, Louis Phillappe the 1st , decided to move his remains back to France in 1840. We saw his tomb. There are also some family members who are buried in the tomb too.
Then, we saw the Eiffel Tower. The CN tower is 553 meters tall and the difference is 229 meters what is the hight of the Eiffel Tower 3.2.1. if you answered 324 you are right its also 1063 feet tall. There are 3 floors and is 5.994 km away from the CN tower. We went to the top floor and has a amazing view of Paris France.
After that, we went to the Louvre [the art museum].
We saw the Mona Lisa aka the most famous picture in the world, the coronation of King Charles the 7th with Joan of the ark, a battle
Next, we went to the Christmas market. It was very fun we went on a slide, a fun fun house, a very high swing and Bumper cars… that when you bump in to you fly!!!!!!
We walked around France a lot!
we found this cool sign
We also went on a boat cruise down the Seine river. We did that at night. The Eiffel tower looked really cool and they did a light show.
One other thing I did, was try escargot. That is snails! They were great. I really liked them...I had two.
We are going to be in morocco next. Keep on reading my blog.
Nate.
